Sindh sizzles as temperature exceeds 40°C in many areas

Extreme hot weather was reported from throughout Sindh on Monday as mercury rose above 40 degrees Celsius (°C) in many regions of the province. The highest temperature was recorded in Jacobabad at 45.5°C. It was followed by 45°C in Dadu.

The maximum temperature recorded in Khairpur was 44.3°C while 44°C was recorded in Larkana, Sukkur and Shaheed Benazirabad. The maximum temperature also exceeded 40°C in many other areas of the province, including Hyderabad, Rohri, Badin, Tando Jam, Sakrand, Padidan and Mithi.

Karachi and Thatta remained relatively cooler as the maximum temperature remained under 40°C. In Karachi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar remained relatively hot with the maximum temperature at 37°C. The maximum temperature recorded at Jinnah-e-Terminal and Mauripur was 36.1°C and 34°C respectively.

According to media reports, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz explained that although the weather was hot in Karachi, there was no possibility of any heat wave in the city at present. He said sea breeze had stopped in Karachi due to which temperature was increasing.
