CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Thursday rejected the election of the mayor of Tangi tehsil and said that the recently held poll was massively rigged.

Addressing a gathering of his party workers, who had staged a protest against the rigging in the local government by-election, he said the ones who have reached the corridors of power on the slogan of justice used state machinery in the election.

A large number of QWP workers holding party flags attended the protest outside the Tehsil Municipal Administration offices. The public mandate was stolen in the election which was not acceptable to the workers of QWP, he said. He added that the February 8 general election was also rigged but the local government elections proved to be worse, breaking all previous records of rigging and manipulation.

Rejecting the result of the election in Tangi tehsil, Sikandar Sherpao demanded re-election, saying that the MPAs of the ruling party ran the election campaign of the LG election candidates.
