Cop martyred in yet another gun attack at Tibbi

LAHORE: Another policeman was martyred in the Tibbi City police limits on Thursday. According to sources, the suspected terrorists of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) martyred Constable Ghulam Rasool when was returning home after performing his duty at Ittihad Park Shahdara. Reportedly, one of the suspects has been arrested, however, police officers are silent on the issue of any arrest in this regard. \The terrorists opened fire at the cop and he was shifted to hospital where he died. The martyred constable was posted in the judicial wing. The Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab has ordered the immediate arrest of the accused involved in the incident.

DIG (Investigation) Zeeshan Asghar reached the scene. According to police sources, those who targeted the policemen were brothers and police and other agencies including CTD have arrested accused Usman Khorasani from Wapda Town. The accused was shifted to an undisclosed location. Law enforcement agencies conducted raids to arrest the brother of the accused. It is worth mentioning that it is the third incident in which policemen were martyred within one month. The officers have been instructed to wear bullet-proof jackets for duty and keep their weapons with them while returning home from duty.

Funeral prayer held

The funeral prayer of martyred police constable Ghulam Rasool of Lahore Police was offered at Police Lines here on Thursday. Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Syed Aamer Raza, IG Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar, CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, DIG Zeeshan Asghar, DIG Imran Kishwar, DIG Faisal Kamran, and senior officers attended the prayers including a large number of police officials and relatives.

Constable Ghulam Rasool, posted in the Judicial Wing, was martyred by the firing of an unknown motorcyclist in Taxali Gate.

CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana paid homage to the martyr by laying a floral wreath on his mortal remains. A prayer was offered for the salvation of the soul of Constable Ghulam Rasool and the police contingents paid their last respects to the martyr. CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana hailed the sacrifice of martyred Constable Ghulam Rasool and extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.Constable Ghulam Rasool belonged to the Sharaqpur area and his survivors include a son and two daughters. CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana and other senior police officers condoled the family of Ghulam Rasool and appreciated his services to the department.CCPO Lahore stated that special teams have been formed for the arrest of the culprits. He emphasized that the killers of the martyred constable will be apprehended soon and brought to justice.

He praised the dedication of Constable Ghulam Rasool towards his duty and stated that those sacrificing their lives in the line of duty are the pride of the police department.
