With every passing year, the ferocity of natural disasters in Pakistan appears to be on the rise. This is, in my view, largely due to climate change. Given the frequency and intensity of the climate-related problems and a plethora of scientific evidence, it is clear that the climate problem is not going to go away in the near future. To mitigate the impact of climate change in Pakistan, a comprehensive approach is essential.
This involves developing and implementing adaptation plans at all levels, investing in climate-resilient infrastructure, and implementing disaster-risk reduction measures. Promoting climate-smart agriculture, improving water management, and engaging local communities are also crucial.
