Three killed, nine injured in Balakot road mishap

MANSEHRA: Three people were killed and nine others sustained critical injuries when a passenger pickup vehicle plunged into a deep ravine in the Patlang area of Balakot here on Monday

“The locals rushed onto the scene and retrieved injured and dead and shifted them to civil hospital in Balakot,” Mian Waheed, an eyewitness told reporters.The vehicle carrying passengers was on its way to the Balakot from the Patlang area when its driver while negotiating a sharp turn on Hangrai’s bumpy road lost control over its steering, resulting in it skidding off the artery, and plunged into the deep ravine.

The injured, including women and children were rushed to the Civil Hospital Balakot where doctors referred all, five of them stated to be in critical condition to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital Mansehra.

The dead were identified as Juma Khan, Ghulam Nabi and Sardar Munshi all, according to police belonged to the Bumpara area of Hangrai in Balakot.The police told reporters that the incident occurred owing to the vehicle’s brakes failure.

Medical Superintended of King Abdullah Teaching Hospital Dr Shahzad Ali Khan confirmed to the media that condition of five of the injured shifted to his facility from the hospital in Balakot was critical.

Meanwhile, Abdul Latif, who was on his way home from Karachi with his family, was killed and three other people sustained injuries when boulders detached from a roadside mountain rolled down on a passenger jeep in the Shahtal area of Torghar.The jeep carrying passengers was on its way to the Shahtal in Judbah area from Oghi when the incident occurred. The local shifted injured to the Civil Hospital in Judbah.
