80 PTI leaders, workers booked in FIR for staging rally
Police on Monday in registered a case against 80 to 90 workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including three leaders.
The rally, organised in support of the release of the PTI founder, took place in Karachi on Sunday. The case, filed at Tipu Sultan police station, listed charges of rioting, blockade, and property damage, following a complaint by the state. The PTI leaders, Fahim Khan, Ataullah, and Alamgir, were also named in the case. According to the FIR, police provided security outside the Insaf House on Faisal Avenue, where the rally began.
PTI leaders and workers obstructed the road from Faisal Avenue to the airport, pelting passing vehicles with stones. The police tactfully dispersed the crowd. Despite obstacles and police resistance, the PTI successfully held the rally to protest against alleged mandate theft and demand the release of their founder.
Led by central leader Sher Afzal Marwat and provincial president Haleem Adil Sheikh, the rally faced halts but eventually reached the Insaf House after negotiations with the police, who released five detained workers.
