ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Tariq Masoori Bugti is expected to call on the prime minister to apprise him about the breakaway federation that is bringing bad name to the game.
Tariq Bugti who is nominated by the prime minister as the PHF president and then sought the vote of confidence from the PHF’s Congress in a media talk at Bunda Ground said that the breakaway federation was seeking only cheap publicity.
“I would be calling on the PM within the next few days to apprise him about the breakaway federation and its efforts to bring the bad name to hockey. Our federation is the one that followed all constitutional requirements and adopted all the legal courses. No one except the PM under the laid down constitution has the powers to nominate the PHF president. I was nominated by the PM and then sought the vote of confidence from the Congress. It was the same Congress that gave a vote of confidence to former secretary PHF Haider Hussain.” Tariq Bugti claimed that he would not come in any blackmailing.
“I can sit with anyone and talk to anyone but my talks would stay within the constitutional ambit.” On the team’s preparations for the coming two internationals -- Azlan Shah Cup and Nations Cup, Bugti who was also accompanied by Secretary PHF Rana Mujahid, said that Oltmans is due within next 12 hours.
“He will start training with the Pakistan team from Tuesday onward. Hopefully a competitive team will be finalized for the coming two events.”
