MANSEHRA: The Tehsil Municipal Administration on Sunday launched an operation to clear the choked sewerage lines and nullah along with Karakoram Highway and other arteries in the city and its suburbs.

“We have started reopening of choked nullah and sewerage lines as rainwater flooded the KKH and rest of the arteries in the city and its suburbs during the recent rains,” Mazhar Muzafar the Tehsil Municipal Officer, told reporters.

The TMA’s sanitation team equipped with heavy machines cleared the choked sewerage lines and nullah in the city and its suburbs. The rainwater had flooded Abbottabad Road, Kashmir Road, Karakoram Highway and Lari Adda owing to the choked sewerage lines and nullah along those arteries affecting traffic flow.

“We have launched this special clean-up operation at the order of KP Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s provincial deputy president Kamal Saleem Swati also visited our teams,” Mazhar said.

The TMO also appealed to citizens to extend their help in keeping sewerage lines and nullah open.“The residents and traders shouldn’t dump garbage in sewerage lines and nullah outside their homes and shops to avoid embarrassing situations where rainwater floods streets and Roads,” said the official.
