KALAYA: Fifteen militants were killed in actions by the security forces in Orakzai and Khyber tribal agencies on Saturday.
Nine militants and a soldier were killed in a clash in the Oat Mela area in Orakzai Agency, official sources said.
The sources said the clash took place when the militants ambushed a patrol of the security forces. A soldier was killed and three others sustained injuries in the attack, the sources said, adding that nine militants were also killed when the security forces retaliated.
Political Tehsildar Khaista Akbar said the injured soldiers were taken to the Combined Military Hospital in Kohat.
Online adds from Peshawar: At least six suspected militants have been killed and several others injured in air strikes by fighter jets in the Tirah valley of Khyber Agency.
The operation in Tirah aims to build on the army’s offensive against strongholds of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant groups in nearby North Waziristan that began in June last year.
