LAHORE: In preparation for the upcoming by-elections in Punjab, the home department has mandated the enforcement of Section 144 in several key districts. Effective immediately, the directive covers Lahore, Kasur, Chakwal, Gujarat, Bhakkar, Wazirabad, Narowal, Sheikhupura, and Rahim Yar Khan.
A spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department emphasised a complete ban on all types of weapons and firing throughout the specified areas. This enforcement, slated from April 18-22, aims to ensure the safety and security of citizens during the electoral process. The notification, issued by Bilal Ahmed under the guidance of the Home Secretary of Punjab, underscores the government’s commitment to a peaceful and orderly electoral environment.
