SWABI: In a targeted operation, poppy crop on approximately 27 kanals of land was eradicated in Naranji village and surrounding areas of Razar tehsil in Swabi on Thursday.The district police conducted the operation on the directive of by District Police Officer (DPO) Haroon Rasheed.
The initiative, aimed at combating the cultivation of illicit crops, saw full participation from the law enforcement officials and personnel. A heavy police presence was deployed to dismantle the illegal cultivation of poppy, a precursor to drug addiction that poses significant risks to the youth in the region.
Prompted by public complaints and the need to eliminate the hazardous substance from the community, the district police launched a joint operation, supported by the cooperation of local elders. An official said the locals’ assisted the police force in eradicating the menace in order to ensure the well-being of the local population.
