The house of a former senior superintendent of police (SSP) in the Defence area of Karachi was robbed during the Eid holidays.
The incident took place on Khayaban-e-Faisal in Defense Phase VIII. The case of theft was registered on the complaint of retired SSP Ghulam Sarwar Abro at the Sahil Police Station.
It was stated in the FIR that no one was at home when the robbery took place on the second day of Eidul Fitr on Thursday. The robbers stole 25 tola of gold, Rs4.4 million and other valuables from the house.
According to the family, the robbers broke the lockers and cupboards and also took the CCTV recorder with them while leaving. According to Abro, he had gone to his ancestral village on April 9 to celebrate Eidul Fitr while his children went to their uncle’s house in the Garden area on April 10.
The retired officer said that when his son Afan returned home, he found that the locks were broken and the money obtained from the sale of his late wife's jewellery amounting to Rs4.4 million was missing.
His another son Burhan told him that a locker had also been broken and a box containing gold bangles and rings with a total weight of approximately 25 tolas had also been stolen. Police said they had registered a case and investigations were under way.
