Rainy Eid likely this time around

Islamabad:The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain with wind and thunderstorm in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh provinces during Eid days, including Wednesday (today).

It said a westerly wave was expected to enter the country’s northern parts from April 10, while another will hit most parts of the country on April 13 and last until April 15. The PMD forecast rain and thunderstorm with occasional gaps in KP's Chitral, Dir, Mansehra and Abbottabad districts from April 10 to April 15 and in the province's Bajaur, Mohmand, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera areas from April 12 to April 15.

It added that in Punjab, rain with wind and thunderstorm would fall in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal first on April 10 and then from April 12 night to April 15 with occasional gaps. Balochistan will see rainfall coupled with wind and thunderstorm in its Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musakhel, Kohlu, Sibbi, Quetta, Chaman, Gawadar and Kech areas from April 12 to April 14.

There is a forecast of rain with wind and thunderstorm for Sindh province's Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Qambar Shahdad Kot, Jamshoro and Sanghar area on April 13 and April 14. The PMD said isolated rain with strong winds and thunderstorms was expected in Karachi and Hyderabad as well. It warned windstorms, hailstorms and lightning could damage standing crops, loose structures like electric poles, vehicles and solar panels. The PMD urged tourists to avoid unnecessary visits during the period and said authorities should take necessary measures to prevent any damage to public life and property.
