Lesco XEN arrested over inflated billing

LAHORE: FIA has arrested an XEN in connection with overbilling of electricity. In a crackdown, an FIA team arrested XEN Rao Kamran Shaukat from Lesco's Shahpur sub-division. This crackdown directed by Federal Interior Minister and FIA DG aims to address illegal charging practices that have led to the consumers paying billions of rupees extra. Further investigation is under way and a raiding team has been formed as more arrests are expected. Authorities are working to curb overbilling and tighten controls on government electricity connections.

Girl commits suicide by jumping into canal

A 22-year-old girl committed suicide by jumping into a canal in the limits of Johar Town police on Sunday. On being informed, the rescuers rushed to the scene and fished out the body from the canal. Police said that the victim had committed suicide over a domestic issue. The body was shifted to the morgue.

19 arrested for violating Kite Flying Act

Punjab police arrested 19 persons for violating Kite Flying Act across the province, including Lahore during the last 24 hours. Spokesman for Punjab police said that the police registered 3,664 cases and arrested 3,798 persons for violating Kite Flying Act across the province during the last 41 days.

Two POs arrested from abroad

Punjab police arrested two proclaimed offenders wanted in murder cases after they were deported from Dubai.

Abdul Ghaffar had killed two citizens in Sadar police station, Dera Ghazi Khan in 2022, and Muhammad Faisal killed a man in Mandi Bahauddin in 2019. A police team arrested both the POs from Lahore Airport on Sunday after the accused were extradited from Dubai.

21 die in road accidents in Punjab

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,430 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, 21 people died, whereas 1,587 were injured. Out of these, 725 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 862 victims with minor injuries were treated on the spot by Rescue medical teams.
