KARACHI: A law officer representing the Rangers submitted the report about the death of Aftab Ahmed, an aide to MQM’s senior leader, Dr Farooq Sattar, to an anti-terrorism court (ATC), saying that Aftab died due to cardiac arrest.
The report said that when Aftab suffered a heart attack, he was rushed to a hospital where he died. It was further said that the exact reason of the death would be determined after the issuance of the postmortem report. The officer further told the court that a high-level investigation committee has been set up in this regard.
Meanwhile, another MQM activist, Rashid Ali, was remanded in the custody of the Rangers by an anti-terrorism court (ATC). A law officer had requested the ATC concerned to endorse the order of 90-day preventive detention against the MQM activist, Rashid Ali. The court was informed that Rashid Ali was allegedly involved in target killings and extortion.
The law officer prayed the court to endorse the apprehension order so that the accused could be interrogated for his involvement in heinous crimes. The court accepted the plea and endorsed 90-day detention of Rashid Ali.
