Three visa fraud accused held
LAHORE: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Monday arrested three suspects involved in human trafficking and visa fraud from Iqbal Town.
According to FIA Director Sarfraz Virk, accused Farooq, Umar Farooq and Shahid Ali were involved in human trafficking and visa fraud and 130 passports and other documents were recovered from their possession. He said the accused used to extort money from citizens on the pretext of arranging their employment abroad and also took passports from people under the guise of medical treatment. Meanwhile, Lahore Circle’ Anti-Human Trafficking team of FIA detained a human smuggler. Accused Waris Ali was wanted by authorities since 2023 in connection with his alleged involvement in the tragic Greece boat accident. According a spokesperson for FIA, accused Waris also got Rs2 million from a citizen on the pretext of providing him a job in Italy. The FIA Lahore team raided Multan Road and Shahdara Town areas and arrested suspect Sikandar for his involvement in stealing electricity.
