Two killed in motorway accident

NOWSHERA: Two people were killed and another as many injured when the tyre of a car burst near the Wali Interchange on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway.

Asghar Ali, a patrolling officer in the Motorway Police, said a woman Zainab, wife of Noorul Amin, belonging to Afghanistan, told the police in an injured condition that she was traveling in the car along with her father Nigah Mohammad.

She said that the car was being driven by a driver Iftikhar, who was also accompanied by his friend Jawad.The woman said she was going to Islamabad along with her father for medical checkup as she was going abroad.

Zainab said that the car overturned after its tyre burst and fell off the road.She said her father was killed on the spot while the driver succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The car was also damaged in the accident.

The woman and the other occupant of the car were under treatment at a hospital in Nowshera.Meanwhile, the police arrested a man on the charges of lifting a car and recovered the stolen vehicle in the limits of Akora Khattak Police Station.

One Zahid, a resident of Nizampur, had reported to the police that he had parked his car at the Jahangira Stop when it was lifted.The police traced the alleged car-lifter identified as Gul Nawaz and recovered the stolen vehicle.
