Man arrested for harassing girl

LAHORE: Police Saturday apprehended a person for harassing a girl.

A distressed girl from Gulberg area made an emergency call on 15 that a motorcyclist attempted to harass her outside her office.

A Safe City Authority team immediately sent police for rescue on the girl's complaint.

The suspect was traced through Safe City cameras and apprehended. A Safe City spokesperson stated that women should install the 'Women Safety App' on their mobile phones to ensure their protection. Women can avail immediate assistance through the Women Safety App's Alert 15 and Live Chat features. So far, more than 300,000 women have installed the Punjab Police Women Safety App.

Two die as car rams into tree

Two persons died and another was injured after a speeding car hit a tree in Wafaqi Colony here on Saturday. The car riders were going somewhere on Canal Road when the car driver lost control and hit a tree. As a result, two victims died on the spot.

The third victim was shifted to a nearby hospital by Rescue 1122.

The bodies could not be identified.

Rickshaw driver dies on road

A rickshaw driver died and six passengers were injured after the three wheeler overturned in Raiwind City. The victim identified as Hammad Ahmad was driving a rickshaw and going somewhere when it was overturned. As a result, seven persons including driver received injuries. They were shifted to a nearby hospital but the driver could not survive.

224 drug peddlers held

The Punjab police Saturday claimed to have arrested 224 drug peddlers and booked 223 in 494 raids across the province. According to Punjab police spokesman, the police raided 7,021 spots and arrested 3,732 accused and booked 3,720 drug pushers across the province during the last 11 days. The police recovered 2,622 kg charas, more than 14 kg ice, 20 kg opium and 42,132 litre liquor from the accused.

Road accidents

The Emergency Services Department responded to 1,213 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these road accidents, 07 people died, whereas 1,293 were injured. Out of these, 562 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals.
