ISLAMABAD: The federal government has appointed Capt (retd) Khurram Agha as interior secretary, said in the notification.
A BPS-22 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, Khurram Agha was serving as commerce secretary. He has also served on key positions like principal secretary to the PM, communication and postal services secretary and Gilgit-Baltistan chief secretary.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Inspector General of Police Dr Akbar Nasir Khan has been removed from his office, appointing Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, a grade-20 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), as the top cop of the federal capital.
The Establishment Division has issued notification with the direction to the outgoing IGP to report to the Division. The newly appointed Islamabad IGP was serving as DIG (Operations) with the Lahore Police before his new appointment as IGP Islamabad. Outgoing IGP Dr Akbar Nasir assumed charge of this office on May 21, 2022 and remained the top cop till March 29, 2024.
