PESHAWAR: Several shopkeepers were booked under relevant rules for violating food laws in the provincial capital on qFriday.
Acting upon the directives of the provincial government and Peshawar High Court, Special
Price Magistrate and S&EO Peshawar Sher Fayaz Khan led a team from the Food Department in raids on shops in Saddar to ensure adequate provision of essential food commodities during the holy month of Ramazan.
In order to further facilitate the general public and consumers in various areas of Saddar, a Ramazan Monitoring and Complaint Desk was established by the Food Department at Fawara Chowk on Friday.
The desk will serve as a centralised point for receiving complaints against any violators and resolving them on the spot.Speaking to the media along with Assistant Food Controller Aizaz Khan, the magistrate on duty elaborated the purpose and objectives behind setting up the Complaint Desk, saying that consumers can now easily register their grievances there.
He added that as per the directive of the food minister, all gazetted holidays of field officers of the Food Department had been cancelled. They will continue inspections and checks throughout the week to ensure maximum relief to the public.
