ISLAMABAD: Top seed Japan defeated Pakistan 2-0 to make it to the semi-finals while Pakistan recorded an easy victory against New Zealand in the playoffs later in the day at the Asia/Oceania WJT 14 & Under qualifying event underway in Malaysia.
According to reports reaching here, Japan proved too strong for Pakistan, winning both singles matches with utmost ease. Ogaki Shintaro beat Rizwan Hamza 6-2, 6-0 with Kawaguchi Takaihro getting better of Abubakar Talha 6-3, 6-0 to take the team in the semi-finals. Because of play-offs later in the day, organisers decided against holding a doubles match.
