Designed for cheating
In developed countries, education aims to produce critical thinkers who contribute to the well-being of society and enhance the potential of the state. Unfortunately, the Pakistani education system produces rote learners and disillusioned young people due to outdated syllabi and poor teaching in educational institutions, which have little value and fail to meet the crucial demands of the market. Cheating has also become widespread in our education system. The two problems are linked as exams based around memorization are more prone to encourage cheating. It is imperative for the incumbent government and other relevant stakeholders to take interest in this matter and address it effectively.
Changing paper patterns to encourage critical opinions and evaluations in exams instead of rote learning and memorization. Additionally, monitoring exam staff in each board of the country is necessary to ensure accountability, transparency, and the provision of quality education to students. Moreover, efforts should be made to enhance the quality of teaching and learning experiences in educational institutions. This involves investing in teacher training programmes, updating curricula to reflect contemporary needs, and promoting innovative teaching methodologies that foster active learning and critical inquiry.
