Clerical staff observe strike
HARIPUR: The employees of district education department on Tuesday observed a token strike to protest the use of abusive language by the cousin of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Member Provincial Assembly against the clerical staff.
The employees alleged that Tariq Chaman, one of the first cousins and private secretary of Malik Adeel Iqbal PTI’s MPA from PK-48 Haripur III, visited the office of District Officer Education male and asked the clerical staff for some illegal transfers of teachers.
When the staff refused to act upon, they alleged, Chaman allegedly harassed the clerks and used abusive language against them. Following the incident, the clerical staff of the DOE male and female suspended their routine work and locked the offices and held a protest meeting.
Meanwhile, the MPA’s relative brushed aside the allegations. He alleged the clerical staff of the education department was allegedly involved in accepting bribes for transfer of teachers on political grounds.
