Irregularities detected in Ramazan relief hampers’ distribution

JHANG: Grave irregularities were detected in the distribution of relief hampers’ distribution here on Sunday.

Muhammad Aslam of Old Jhang City, told the Deputy Commissioner that when he approached a relief distribution centre of Jhang tehsil, the deputed officials told him that his wife had received the relief hampers a few days ago. He submitted to the DC that his wife had died three years ago.

He told the DC that he was not alone in this situation, but there are several other people, who were denied the relief packets on the similar grounds. A duty staffer of Shorkot Tehsil also claimed that a relief hamper was delivered to Sajjad a day ago and in record he died in 2016.

DC Muhammad Umair did not respond to this correspondent’s query. However, the spokesman for the district administration stated that under the directions of the DC, ADC (Revenue) Abu Bakar visited the control room and checked the data of beneficiaries under the Nigehban Ramazan Relief Package.

CRACKDOWN ON KITE SELLERS INTENSIFIED: In compliance with the directives of the Punjab government, the district police expedited a crackdown on sellers and manufacturers of deadly metal strings and kite flyers.

District Police Officer (DPO) Rashid Hidayat has directed the SDPOs and SHOs to take strict action against kite manufacturers and flyers. The city police have claimed to have arrested five more accused involved in kites manufacturing.

The DPO urged the people to keep an eye on kite flying in their locality and immediately inform the police.The DPO also said merit was ensured in the process of recruitment cops.
