LAHORE: Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali on Sunday visited fair price shops at Model Bazaar Wahdat Road and Mian Plaza and reviewed the quality, supply and demand of the commodities.
Speaking on the occasion, Iftikhar Ali said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, 51 fair price shops have been established across the province of which 36 fair price shops are located in Model Bazaars and 15 are located in Ramazan Bazaars.
He said that these fair price shops are open daily from 9am to 5pm and the prices there are 25pc lower than the wholesale market. Over 13 items including vegetables, fruits, Dal Chana and Besan are available at these shops in abundant quantity.
Clear orders have been issued for availability of the best quality of items at these shops and the officers and staff review the stock on a daily basis, he said.
The secretary directed the officers concerned and staff to set up separate counters for potatoes, tomatoes and onions so that there is no rush and long lines and people can shop easily. Punjab Director General, PAMRA, Tariq Mehmood, Director Agricultural Information Naveed Asmat Kahloon and other officers were with him.
