LAHORE: Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq is poised to assume a significant role in the new set-up of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Reports suggest that Razzaq is set to join the selection committee led by Wahab Riaz, the former pace bowler. Following discussions initiated by Riaz, Razzaq has been approached to take on this pivotal role.

After a meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Razzaq has agreed to contribute his expertise and experience to the selection committee. This move reflects his commitment to the advancement of cricket in Pakistan.

The 44-year-old has also engaged with Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer and other senior officials, indicating his readiness to undertake responsibilities within the committee. Apart from his duties in player selection, Razzaq is expected to play a crucial role in mentoring and nurturing the nation’s emerging cricket talent. With his extensive playing career, which includes 46 Tests, 265 ODIs, and 32 T20Is, Razzaq brings a wealth of experience to the table. Over the course of his career, he has amassed over 7,400 runs and claimed 389 wickets across formats. Razzaq’s inclusion in the PCB setup marks a significant development and signals the board’s commitment to leveraging the expertise of former players for the betterment of Pakistani cricket.
