ISLAMABAD: Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al Malikiy has termed the last week’s visit of Pakistan’s Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir to Saudi Arabia highly productive, significant and successful.

The COAS had a meeting with Crown Prince and Saudi Prime Minister Muhammad bin Salman in Riyadh. Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman was present on the occasion. Malikiy had dashed to the Saudi capital for the meeting.

Talking to The News on Friday evening at the Iftar dinner he hosted in honour of Muslim ambassadors here at Serena, the Saudi envoy said Saudi Arabia was determined to assist Pakistan in overcoming its economic problems. “You can expect huge investment from Saudi Arabia in several development projects in the near future.”

In this regard, he pointed to the presence of a delegation of Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), led by Sultan Bin Abdul Rehman Al Marshad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), in Islamabad and having important meetings with Pakistani officials. He said the visit of Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman to Pakistan would also greatly help in enhancing cooperation in the defence field. He appreciated the government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for its efforts to boost the economy and improve relations with the world capitals.
