UVAS observes World Down Syndrome Day

LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Friday organised seminar and walk in connection with World Down Syndrome Day.

The events were aimed at creating awareness among the public regarding the down syndrome disease, its symptoms, treatment, ambiguities, diagnosis and other issues.Principal Officer Students Affairs Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Director Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences Dr Tahir Mehmood Khan and a number of faculty members and students attended in the walk led by UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Younus.

A seminar was also arranged on the occasion wherein guest speakers spoke about the introduction of down syndrome, highlighted physician’s aspects and talked about the developmental defect and child psychology with particular relevance to down syndrome.Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said such seminars were necessary for knowledge sharing regarding the prevention of down syndrome disease.

Meanwhile, an awareness walk and a seminar were also organised at the varsity to observe World Water Day. The events were intended to create awareness among the public about water conservation with the theme of “Water for Peace”.

Prof Dr Muhammad Younus led this walk and Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Business Management Prof Dr Muhammad Azam, Chairman Department of Environmental Sciences Dr Saif-ur-Rehman Kashif, Registrar Sajjad Hyder, Dr Fareeha Arooj and a number of faculty members and students attended the walk.Ms Shazia Ghaffar from Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) was the guest speaker of Water for Peace moot.
