Kyrgyzstan eyes trade expansion

LAHORE: Temir Sariev, president of the Kyrgyzstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has shown keen interest to increase trade volumes with Pakistan, emphasising key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, textiles, sports goods, food, and surgical products.
In a meeting with a Pakistani trade delegation led by Meher Kashif Younis, honorary Consul of Kyrgyzstan, Sariev highlighted the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships and economic growth.
Sariev's remarks came during the delegation's visit to the chamber on Thursday, where he pointed out that Kyrgyzstan's proactive approach offers a promising opportunity for enhanced collaboration and economic development.
He stressed the importance of focusing on strategic sectors to expand trade ties, leveraging each country's comparative advantages to meet the demands of global markets.
"By leveraging synergies and exploring new avenues for cooperation, we can unlock untapped opportunities, create value, and contribute to shared prosperity," said Sariev. He added that the Kyrgyzstan government's initiative underscores the significance of dialogue, partnership, and collaboration in today's interconnected world.
Meher Kashif Younis, leading the Pakistani delegation, echoed Sariev's sentiments, stating that the vision for deepening economic ties reflects a forward-looking approach that prioritizes innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability. "With Sariev's leadership and commitment, the prospect of expanding trade holds great promise, driving economic growth and fostering closer ties between our peoples," said Younis.
Both leaders emphasized the vast potential for mutually beneficial outcomes through proactive engagement and concerted efforts, aiming to build a stronger foundation for trade and investment, and paving the way for increased prosperity and welfare for their people.
