Suffocation claims life of 2 Wasa employees

FAISALABAD: Two employees of Wasa lost their lives due to toxic gas and suffocation while cleaning sewage in a wedding hall situated on Sargodha Road on Sunday.

According to police report, the incident occurred at a marquee on Sargodha Road where Wasa employees were engaged in sewerage cleaning. Upon descending into a deep drain, they succumbed to poisonous gas and suffocation. Rescue teams retrieved the bodies from the drain after a rescue operation. Later, residents of the areas protested outside the hall against the incident.

A spokesperson for the Wasa stated that the deceased employees were hired privately and were not officially assigned by the Wasa for the cleaning task.
