Adiala jail security beefed up

Three-tier security have been arrayed with the deployment of armed and plain-clothed personnel to counter any attempt of violence

RAWALPINDI: The security agencies have been rigorously enhancing security measures around the Adiala Jail following the cumulative threats from the terrorist outfits based in Afghanistan, security agency sources said Saturday.

According to the plan, three-tier security have been arrayed with the deployment of armed and plain-clothed personnel to counter any attempt of violence, the sources said and added that the inner most tier has been strengthened by laying barbed wires around the jail in the ambit of half a kilometer.

The second and middle tier has been reinforced with placing barricades and patrolling, while, the outermost and most sensitive circle has been made forceful by deployed fighting armed forces deployed at barriers to check each and every pedestrian and vehicles entering into the roads leading to Adiala Jail.

The Punjab Home Ministry has imposed a two-week ban on imprisoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder chairman Imran Khan from holding meetings inside Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail and its surrounding areas.

Heavy contingents of police, anti-terrorist squad, Rangers and other paramilitary forces have been deployed in radius of two kilometer around the jail after conducting search operation in the area.

The Home Department has issued notification to restrict all kinds of visits, meetings and interviews in and outside the Adiala Jail due to security alert.

The CTD sources disclosed different terrorist outfits have entered in the area around the Adiala Jail turn out to be serious security threats.
