HYDERABAD: In collaboration with the municipal corporation, the chamber of commerce and the Hyderabad Traders Association, a Ramazan bachat bazaar has been established at Shaheed-e-Millat Park, Latifabad, to provide convenience to citizens in obtaining goods at fixed prices and to prevent profiteering.

Hyderabad Mayor Kashif Shoro visited the bachat bazaar on Friday along with Municipal Commissioner Zahoor Ahmed Lakhan, Chamber of Commerce and Traders Association representatives, Women’s Chamber of Commerce members, town chairman, Ramazan bachat bazar management, and municipal corporation officers.

During the visit, Shoro visited shops and stalls established in the bazaar to check the quality of essential items and directed highlighting the price lists.

A large number of citizens turned to the park after hearing about the bazaar. Citizens reported that a 10kg bag of flour is priced at 1,250 rupees instead of 1,450, and the price of sugar has been reduced by 15 rupees compared to the market rate.

Citizens mentioned that the price of oil per liter is 370 rupees, meat is 700 rupees per kg, and the prices of fruits and vegetables are lower than general market rates by 10 to 20 rupees per kilo, providing relief.

The mayor directed officials to appropriately reduce rates for the people because the purpose of organising the bazaar was not to earn money but to provide maximum relief to the people during this period of inflation.

The mayor stated that the Chambers and Traders Association had collectively offered discounts ranging from 20 per cent to 60 per cent on stalls at the bazaar, providing significant convenience.
