‘Ramazan dastarkhan’ inaugurated in Mardan

The minister said that a special campaign was going on throughout the province to control prices during Ramazan

PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Food Zahir Shah Toru on Friday inaugurated the ‘Ramazan dastarkhan’ at the Panahgah run by the Social Welfare Department at the District Headquarters Hospital, Mardan.

Members of Provincial Assembly Iftikhar Ali Mashwani, Tufail Anjum, Abdul Salam Afridi, Deputy Commissioner Mardan Muhammad Fayaz Khan Sherpao and others attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Zahir Shah Toru said that a total of 11 panahgahs were functional in the province where quality food was being provided in iftar and Sehr to the people. The minister said that a special campaign was going on throughout the province to control prices during Ramazan and a large number of traders and shopkeepers involved in profiteering had been sent to jail in the last three days.

“The provision of Rs10,000 per poor family will also be started in a few days,” he said, adding this would benefit more than 8,50000 families.He added that a vigorous campaign was being launched against those creating artificial price-hikes across the province.
