ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Naqvi is likely to bring his team in departments and organisations which fall under his ministry in the next few days.

In this connection, some hectic lobbying has already started for the dual charge of Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman.

Sources said that Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa and Sohail Ashraf (who was recently posted to the Pakistan Cricket Board) are the two favourites for the post of chief commissioner. Both Muhammad Ali Randhawa and Sohail Ashraf, BPS-20 officers, are considered trustworthy officers of the interior minister.

Captain (retd) Anwarul Haq, who previously held the charge of Member Environment, was appointed as CDA chairman by the caretaker prime minister on the recommendation of the then interior minister. He replaced Noorul Amin Mengal, another BPS-20 officer of PAS, who was also considered close to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Meanwhile, some postings and transfers have been made in the CDA. Secretary CDA Board Syed Safdar Shah, who is a BPS-19 officer of the executive cadre, has been appointed as Director General Vigilance. However, he will continue to hold the charge of Secretary Board and Director Security. Director General Environment Qaisar Khan Khattak has been appointed as Director General Human Resources. DG Vigilance Muhammad Shahbaz has been directed to report to the HR Department.
