Jamrud elders demand recovery of arrested relatives

JAMRUD: Elders from the Sikanderkhel tribe in Jamrud tehsil have demanded the authorities to either present their arrested relatives before court or release them if found innocent.

Speaking to the media, elders including Niazmin Shah, Pir Muhammad, Lal Khan, and Arif Shah said that the arrests took place during a raid conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Peshawar Police on August 5, 2023, around 2am.

Those arrested include Hussain Shah, Mufti Syed Shah, Maulana Abdul Aziz, Maulana Yar Wali, and Raees Khan. The speakers said the whereabouts of the arrestees remained unknown so far.

They further said that one Rahimullah, son of Pir Muhammad, had been arrested nine years ago, and is still missing.One of the speakers, Niazmin Shah, urged authorities to either bring forth charges against their relatives and present them before the court, or release them immediately if they were found innocent.
