Swat varsity to have centre of excellence

MINGORA: The University of Swat and the Hunerkada College of Visual and Performing Arts Islamabad have signed an agreement under which a centre of excellence would be established.

A delegation from the University of Swat led by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Sher visited Islamabad on Sunday to meet with the leadership team of the Hunerkada College of Visual and Performing Arts led by its Founder Director Syed Jamal Shah.

The visit culminated in an agreement between the two institutions to establish the Hunerkada, Centre of Excellence at the University of Swat.This collaboration would present a significant opportunity for the people of Swat, fostering artistic expression and providing educational pathways in the arts and architecture.

The Centre of Excellence would offer a variety of degree and certificate programmes in relevant fields, along with designated quotas and scholarships for deserving students from Swat. This initiative was expected to expand educational opportunities. The proposed centre would provide the residents of Swat with greater access to quality education in arts and architecture.

It was agreed that the programmes would empower aspiring artists and architects in Swat to hone their skills and pursue their creative endeavors. The centre’s establishment would help enrich the cultural landscape of Swat and celebrate the region’s artistic heritage.

The University of Swat and Hunerkada College were confident that this partnership would prove instrumental in nurturing creative talent and fostering artistic growth in Swat.In the ceremony, Dr Hassan Sher, Vice-Chancellor, University of Swat, thanked former federal minister and renowned artist Syed Jamal Shah for his dedication and services.
