LAHORE: Approximately 82 million women aged 15 and older may experience various intimate health issues in Pakistan.

At least 75 percent of sexually active women encounter at least one episode of vaginal yeast infection (VYI), a prevalent health concern affecting as many as three out of four women during their lifetime. Left unaddressed, VYI and related conditions can lead to significant distress and potential complications. Stressing the importance of addressing commonly overlooked conditions like vaginal yeast infections to enhance women's overall health in Pakistan, Dr Mohamed Galal, vice-president of consumer health at Bayer Middle East, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting underserved communities, aiming to assist 100m people annually through self-care initiatives, including education and access to appropriate products. He underscored the EmpowHer Programme's objective to empower lady health visitors and other healthcare providers serving women from lower-income communities to reach approximately 10 million women, providing them with awareness to better manage their health.

He was speaking at an MoU signing ceremony and train the trainer session marking the inauguration of EmpowHer, a significant partnership with Greenstar Social Marketing aimed at enhancing the diagnosis and prevention of intimate health issues among women in low-income communities. The initiative targets a persistent challenge in women's health in Pakistan.
