IGP lauds cops’ grit at Ichhra incident

LAHORE:Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar Monday said wisdom and timely action demonstrated by cops during Ichhra incident saved the country from a bad situation.

At the Central Police Office during a meeting with the cops, who took part in defusing Ichhra situation, the IGP said the incident created an awareness in people as how to behave in such situations. He appreciated all cops for their contribution to saving a woman from the situation.

He said names of brave officers would be written on the CPO walls. SDPO Gulbarg ASP Shehrbano Naqvi briefed the IGP on the incident. The IGP appreciated the role of the supervisory officers, including Irtza Komail, ASP Shehrbano Naqvi, SHOs, Dolphin Squad team for showing extraordinary courage. He announced awards for relevant officers and officials for their performance in rescuing the woman. The IGP said names of SHO Ichhra Bilal Arabi, ASI Sajid Majeed and constable Usman have been also selected for IG Gallantry Award.
