PkMAP says Achakzai’s house ‘raided’

The guard from Mehmood Achakzai’s security team was arrested for obstructing the police action

QUETTA: The Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has alleged that the police raided house of its leader and presidential candidate Mehmood Khan Achakzai without any justification, reports BBC Urdu.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s central secretariat Sunday night, the party’s central secretary general Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal said that a heavy contingent of police raided the party chief’s house and violated the sanctity of home.

He said that the raid was “executed without any magistrate”.

He said that the police also arrested a personal guard of the party chief who was in possession of a licensed weapon

He said that the raid was conducted after PkMAP leader exposed electoral rigging and those responsible for it in the National Assembly, adding the party and its leadership cannot be intimidated by such actions.

He condemned the raid and announced protest demonstrations today (Monday).

On the other hand, John Achakzai, former caretaker information minister of the of Balochistan, addressing a press conference, rejected the allegation, saying police acted to evict the illegal occupiers from a piece of in front of Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s house.

He said a guard from Mehmood Achakzai’s security team was arrested for obstructing the police action. Jan Achakzai rejected the allegation of violation of the sanctity of home.

He said that the government would continue its campaign against their illegal occupation of government or private lands.
