ISLAMABAD: After his success in the election for prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif will take the oath of office on March 4 (Monday) at Aiwan-e-Sadr at 2 pm.
Highly placed sources told The News here Friday that President Arif Alvi has consented to administer the oath to the new prime minister. Shehbaz Sharif would be the 33rd Prime Minister of the country after his swearing-in.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) supremo Nawaz Sharif, former president Asif Ali Zardari, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan chief minister and four provincial governors will also be present on the occasion. The election of the prime minister will take place tomorrow (Sunday).
Interestingly, President Alvi declined to administer the oath to Shehbaz Sharif in April 2022 when he became the prime minister unopposed after the ouster of Imran Khan through the vote of no trust. Alvi refused to administer the oath on the pretext of health problems. Alvi is a PTI nominee and has been supporting the party despite being the president.
