Five cops among 9 injured in Lakki road mishaps

LAKKI MARWAT: At least nine people, including five policemen, were injured in separate road accidents in the district, said police and rescue officials on Wednesday.

They said that the policemen were injured when their van overturned on Indus Highway near Khankot Tajazai. “The police van overturned in a bid to save a motorcyclist on the busy Peshawar-Karachi highway,” said a police official. As a result, five cops including Muhammad Niaz, Waqas, Hayatullah and Khursheed Alam, residents of Bannu and driver Barkatuillah, a resident of Titerkhel Lakki Marwat, sustained injuries.

A rescue official said that the injured cops were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital located at Tajazai wherefrom driver Barkatullah was referred to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital in Bannu. After the accident, Lakki Marwat DPO Tariq Habib along with DSP Headquarters Muhammad Nawaz Khan visited the hospital and inquired after the wounded policemen.

Separately, a truck overturned due to a brake fail on Lakki-Darra Tang section of busy Bannu-Mianwali road, inflicting injuries to four men onboard. A rescue 1122 official said that the injured included Naveed, a resident of Isakhel (Punjab), Hikmatullah of Darra Tang (Laki Marwat), Saeed Anwar and Rehmanullah, residents of Karak.He said that the injured had been shifted to the Government City Hospital.
