PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Saturday ordered the police to quash the first information reports (FIRs) registered against two doctors serving at the Khyber Teaching Hospital.
A single bench comprising Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim heard the petitions of the two doctors namely Dr Bakht Samar and Dr Bakht Naeem. A lawyer Mukhtiar Ahmad appearing for the petitioners told the bench that the police had registered the FIRs at the University Town Police Station against the two doctors on the order of a lower court. He said that notices were not issued to his clients during the hearing of the lower court proceedings and the police were ordered to register the cases. He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Healthcare Commission should have been approached to take action against the doctors for any wrongdoing so there was no need for the registration of the police cases. The lawyer said that the cases were registered against his clients without hearing them. After hearing the arguments, the court ordered the police to quash the FIRs.
