SAU VC underscores importance of computer technology in agriculture sector

Prof Dr Fateh Mohammad Marri, the vice chancellor (VC) of the Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tando Jam, has said that modern computer technology has brought up an educational revolution in the digital era and the varsity’s vision is to connect its students and those of its constitutive colleges at the national level to get benefit from the computer technology for the agriculture sector and its related fields.

He expressed these views while recently speaking among students of the Khairpur College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (KCAET) at a laptop distribution ceremony of the prime minister scheme.

Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Technology and Skilled Development Khairpur Mir Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rasool Bakash Mahar, SAU Registrar Ghulam Mohiuddin Qureshi, Prof Dr Tehmina Fatima Miano, Prof Dr Barkat Qureshi, Prof Dr Mohammad Ismail Khunbar and others also spoke on the occasion.

The SAU VC said it was his vision to provide all modern IT facilities to the varsity students so that they could benefit from the information technology to get access to quality education.

He said that students could only use modern technology for getting modern education which also helped them participate in various seminars, conferences and trainings in agriculture engineering fields and in other educational fields correlated with the agriculture education.

He said that compared to previous decades, the students of today had been provided with better education facilities in public educational institutions. He added that it was the responsibility of the students to use those facilities properly to enhance their educational capabilities by learning from their faculty members and using the latest computer technology for doing quality research in various agriculture related fields.

He said it was his mission to provide all basic facilities and modern agriculture equipment to the KCAET students for their various labs as per their requirements for conducting practical research.

He said he was delighted to see female students in the agriculture related fields as educated female resource could bring revolution in the agriculture sector.

Prof Mahar said on the occasion that it was a priority of the government to provide modern technological facilities to public universities and public colleges in Sindh and digital technology had brought up a revolution in the education sector.

He lauded the SAU VC’s efforts for providing better modern educational facilities to students in the field of computer science. He said the best way to connect the students with modern tools was using the computer technology.

He said that after using modern tools of computer technology, students could get quality modern education at their colleges and they would be able to serve their country and its provinces.

Dr Ali Raza Shah, the principal of the KCAET, said he had taken practical steps for nurturing better human resources at the college by holding the classes regularly and providing the students with better modern technology facilities.

Prof Qureshi said the SAU had provided the most latest and modern range of laptops to its students under the PM laptop schemes.

The SAU VC, registrar and faculty members also planted various saplings at the KCAET on the occasion.
