Three names finalised for appointment of Bhitshah university’s VC

KARACHI: The names of three candidates have been finalised for the appointment of vice chancellor to the University of Sufism and Modern Sciences Bhitshah (USMS).

The three candidates who have been finalised for the position are former vice chancellor Nawabshah University Dr Arshad Saleem, former vice chancellor Technical University Khairpur Dr Madad Ali Shah and Dr Imamuddin Khoso. Even earlier, the search committee had placed Dr Madad Ali Shah at the second number for the post of vice chancellor of Mirpurkhas University.

A bureaucrat member of the search committee told The News on Tuesday that after completing the interviews of the candidates, three names had been sent to the caretaker chief minister of Sindh and it was likely that after the clearance of the three names by intelligence agencies, the chief minister would interview the three candidates and decide the final candidate.

It should be remembered that 16 candidates were interviewed on the first day while 16 candidates gave interviews on the second day. Among the prominent candidates shortlisted for the interviews were Dr Anila Atta-ur-Rahman, Dr Fateh Chandio, Dr Rafiq Ahmed Chandio, Hamadullah Kakepoto, Dr Ghulam Mujtaba Sheikh, Dr Sattar Jamali, Dr Nabi Bakhsh Narejo, Dr Ghaus Bakhsh Narejo, Dr Rafiq Memon, Dr Tariq Rahim Soomro, Dr Ghulam Mujtaba Sheikh, Dr Syed Azhar Shah, Dr Muhammad Usman Keerio and others were included.

The search committee for Bhitshah University received more than 55 applications, but after examining the applications, 32 candidates were called for the interview. The search committee meeting was chaired by Chairman Sindh HEC Dr Tariq Rafi while Secretary Boards and Universities Noor Ahmed Samun, Secretary Colleges Sadaf Anis, Secretary HEC Moin Siddiqui, and Dr Pirzada Qasim participated.
