Pakistan, Iran move ahead with positive intent: governor
LAHORE:Punjab Governor Baligh ur Rehman has said that Pakistan and Iran have deep rooted ties which will strengthen further with the passage of time.
Speaking at the 45th anniversary of Iran revolution, the governor said that after some disturbing episodes that occurred recently at the borders, both countries are moving ahead with positive intent which is a welcome sign. He stated that both the nations were linked culturally and socially adding Pakistan stood firm in its commitment to maintain good relationship with Iran.
He also said that both the nations also shared a common asset in form of Allama Iqbal who is known as 'Iqbal Lahori' in Iran and his poetry was equally popular in Iran and Pakistan. He said the economic corridor provided equal opportunities to both countries for growth in trade and business.
The governor also expressed profound grief over the loss of innocent lives in Gaza and urged the world community to play its role in ending the ongoing brutality. Turkiye Counsel General Durmus Bastug, Jafar Ronas, PMLN leader M Mehdi and others also attended the ceremony.
