107,980 growers get gunny bags

HAFIZABAD: Passco district in-charge Imtiaz Virk Tuesday said some 107,980 growers have been given gunny bags at nine token centres through ballots.
Imtiaz said the no gunny bag would be given to any grower without token. He said balloting for the bags was being conducted in a transparent way. Virk said the Passco would start wheat procurement from Solangin Awan, Iqbalnagar, Madina Sugar Mills Chowk, Sawanpura, Beranwala, Kaleke Mandi, Pindi Bawary, Vanike Tarar, Dhiranke Lalky, Ramke Chattha, Pindi Bhattian, Machho Nikka, Tibba Shah Behlol, Sukheke, Nauthen (Kot Sarwar), Bhobhra, Fatehpur, Rasulpur Tarar, Jalalpur Bhattian and Tahli Goraya areas from May 1st. He said corruption and favouritism would not be tolerated in supply of gunny bags and procurement of wheat.
