LAHORE : The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has executed a zero-waste operation across the city in preparation for the elections 2024.
With a diligent effort to maintain cleanliness, LWMC deployed male and female staff at 4,357 polling stations in the city on Wednesday. LWMC spokesperson affirmed that the extensive cleaning operation will continue even after the elections, emphasising the commitment to sustained cleanliness.
LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din personally inspected various areas, including Ferozepur Road, Nishter Town, Gulberg Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Johar Town, Aziz Bhatti Town, Shalimar Town and Data Ganj Bakhsh Town to oversee the cleanliness arrangements at the polling stations.
He said lime was also sprinkled on the roads around the polling stations with a focus on maintaining sanitation standards throughout the electoral process. “This initiative aimed to ensure public convenience and uphold sanitation standards,” he said adding all available resources will be utilised to ensure the city's cleanliness.
He also urged the public to cooperate with Lahore Waste Management Company teams by responsibly disposing of waste and promptly reporting any cleanliness-related issue through LWMC's helpline 1139 or social media channels.
