MIRANSHAH: The lone woman candidate, Abida Wazir, is making history to contest elections from the restive North Waziristan tribal district.
Clad in a traditional burqa and mother of five grown up children, Abida Wazir is contesting elections from NA-40 constituency in North Waziristan, for which she had already launched a spirited electioneering. “The local residents are facing a host of problems including lack of health and education facilities. I will construct hospitals and educational institutions to facilitate my people, particularly womenfolk,” she said while talking to The News. The candidate said that she would also work for rights of women and restoration of peace besides establishing health centres and schools and colleges.
