Rs 800m to be spent on grid stations upgradation

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) Board of Directors Chairman Khurram Mukhtar has said that the Fesco board is taking every possible step for development and progress of the company so that the best services could be provided to 3.4 million Fesco consumers.
Addressing a board meeting at the Fesco Headquarters here, he said that welfare of the company employees was also a priority of the board. He directed the Fesco administration to complete all arrangements before the arrival of scorching summer season. In this connection, the board had approved 10,864 million O&M budget for the year 2015/16.
The board approved up-gradation of four grid stations of 66KV capacity to 132KV at a cost of Rs 800 million. The proposed grid stations are Garh Maharaj, 18-Hazari, Rakh Digran and Kalabagh, he said, adding that the board had also approved purchase of 40,000 3-phase meters at an estimated cost of Rs 285 million. Similarly, Rs 56 million were approved for the automatic metering pilot project for the first time in the Fesco history, he added. The pilot project would initially begin from Madina Town and Tandlianwala.
On the special directives of the Water & Power secretary and recommendations of Fesco CEO Rashid Ahmad Aslam, the board approved Rs 5,000 cash prize for the best meter reader of every division of the Fesco region. The board also granted approval for the posting of Manager Corporate Accounts Zahid Hassan as the Fesco chief financial officer. The board constituted a committee for provision of the best cardiac medical treatment to the Fesco employees through the Wapda Hospital, Faisalabad.
The meeting was attended by Fesco CEO Rashid Ahmad Aslam, board directors Javed Kamal, Syed Zia Alamdar, Rana Ahsan Afzal, Abdul Hameed Ch, Noor Ahmad, company Secretary Masood Salahuddin and CFO Zahid Hassan.
