Electioneering gains momentum in Chitral

CHITRAL: Though the electioneering has gained momentum in both upper and lower districts, the people seem less interested and excited for the upcoming elections slated for February 8.

The candidates for NA-1 have expedited their election campaign amid chilling cold and inclement weather. They are visiting door-to-door in a bid to coax more and more voters to clinch the National Assembly seat in the general elections. Besides two women candidates namely Khadija Bibi of Awami National Party and Maimoona Bibi, who is contesting polls in independent capacity, Shahzada Iftikharuddin of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali of Jamaat-e-Islami, Talha Mahmood of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, Engr Fazal Rabi Jan of Pakistan People’s Party and Abdul Latif of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are also in the run for the lone NA-1 seat of the two districts.

Two women candidates of PTI, Surrayya Bibi and Latifa are also vying for PK-1, Chitral, but the former had obtained a party ticket while the latter is contesting the elections as an independent. Other candidates in this constituency are: Siraj Ali Khan of PPP, Maulana Javed of JI, Shakil Ahmad of JUIF, Muhammad Wazir of PMLN and Ghulam Muhammad of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians.
